Trainerize Alternatives: 5 Platforms Coaches Actually Switch To in 2026

Trainerize is solid software. Coaches still leave it, usually over add-on pricing or because they want the app to be their brand, not Trainerize's. Here are the five alternatives worth testing, with real prices.

TL;DR

• Trainerize is not bad software. Most coaches who leave are leaving the pricing shape, not the product.

• The headline price is rarely the real price. Nutrition, payments, video and branding are separate add-ons, and they stack.

• Closest like for like swap: TrueCoach, from $26.34 a month billed annually for up to 5 clients.

• Best free tier: Everfit, free forever for up to 5 clients.

• Best value if you want a branded app and heavy programming: PT Distinction, $59.90 a month with custom branded iOS and Android apps included for up to 25 clients.

• If the app, the community and the paid content are the product rather than the workout builder, KLIQ is the closer fit. If sets, reps and macros are the product, one of the fitness tools above will serve you better.

Why coaches start looking for a Trainerize alternative

Almost nobody searches this because Trainerize crashed or lost their data. The complaints are more boring and more structural than that.

The first is the pricing shape. Trainerize prices by client seats, so your software bill climbs at exactly the moment you are trying to reinvest in growth. That is a legitimate model, but it means the cost of a client is never zero, and coaches feel that.

The second is the add-on stack. The base plan is cheap. Then you want to take payments, coach nutrition properly, run video sessions and put your own logo on the app, and each of those is priced separately.

The third is ownership. On the standard plan your clients download the Trainerize app. For a lot of coaches building a brand, that is the deal breaker. They are sending hard won Instagram traffic into somebody else's icon.

The fourth is scope. Trainerize is built to program training. If your business has drifted toward courses, community, digital downloads and subscriptions, you end up bolting a second platform on the side, and now you are paying twice and your audience is split across two logins.

What Trainerize actually costs in 2026

Worth laying this out honestly, because the headline number and the real number are different.

The Basic plan is free for 1 client. Grow is $10 a month monthly, or $9 a month billed annually, for up to 2 clients. Pro starts at $25 a month for up to 5 clients and scales up through seat tiers to roughly $135 a month at 50 clients, with tiers running to 200 clients. Studio Plus starts at $275 a month for up to 500 members, charged for each location added.

Then the add-ons, which are the part people underestimate. Advanced Nutrition Coaching is $20 a month on Grow, Pro 5 and Pro 15, rising to $45 a month from Pro 30 upward. The Business add-on, which carries scheduling, referrals and product selling, is $25 a month. Video Coaching is $10 a month. Stripe Integrated Payments is $10 a month. The Pro Custom Branded App is a one time $169 setup fee on Pro plans, and gets you your logo and colours on the Trainerize app rather than a fully white labelled listing. A fully white labelled Studio app is included on Studio plans.

Run that for a coach with 30 clients who wants nutrition, payments and video: the seat tier plus $45 plus $25 plus $10 plus $10. The nutrition add-on alone costs more than the entry plan.

None of this is hidden. It is all on the pricing page. It is just that coaches budget from the headline and get surprised by the invoice.

The five alternatives worth your time

TrueCoach, the closest like for like swap

If what you liked about Trainerize was fast, clean workout delivery and you simply want the same thing with fewer moving parts, this is the switch that requires the least rethinking.

Starter is $26.34 a month billed annually for up to 5 active clients. Standard is $57.99 a month billed annually for up to 20 clients. Pro is $136.99 a month billed annually for up to 50 clients. There is a 14 day free trial, and first time annual subscribers get a 90 day money back guarantee.

The important detail: a custom branded fitness app is included from the Standard plan up, not sold as an add-on. Wearables integration and Zapier automations come in at the same tier. TrueCoach's own line is that there are no extra fees, and the pricing page backs that up.

Where it is weaker: it is a coaching tool, not a business platform. There is no course builder, no community feed, no email marketing. If you want to sell a 6 week program to 300 people who are not 1 to 1 clients, this is not the tool.

Everfit, the best free tier

Everfit's Starter plan is free forever for up to 5 clients, and it is a real product rather than a trial: workout builder, custom exercise library, metrics and progress photos, tasks, inbox messaging, and both coach and client apps for iOS and Android.

Paid tiers start at $19 a month for the Pro plan at 5 clients and $105 a month for Studio at 50 clients, billed monthly, with 16 percent off annual. Custom branding, habit coaching, forms, macro tracking and community forums sit on Pro.

Everfit also runs an add-on model, so read carefully before you compare it to anything. Autoflow automation starts at $29 a month, Meal Plans and Recipe Books is $39 a month, On Demand Collections is $25 a month, and Payments and Packages is $9 a month. Full white labelling sits on Enterprise, which is quote only.

Where it is weaker: if you buy three add-ons you have rebuilt the exact stacking problem you left Trainerize to escape. Price the finished configuration, not the entry tier.

PT Distinction, the best value branded app for programming coaches

This is the one most coaches have not properly costed, and it is the most interesting number in this article.

Basic is $19.90 a month for 3 clients, with extra clients at $6.00 a month each, and gives you iOS and Android apps without custom branding. Pro is $59.90 a month for 25 clients, with extra clients at $2.40 a month each, and includes your own custom branded Android and iOS apps. Master is $89.90 a month for 50 clients, extra clients at $1.60 a month each. There is a 1 month free trial.

The thing to notice is that PT Distinction does not run an add-on model. AI program builder, nutrition coaching, meal planner, assessments, group training, scheduled email and SMS, automated workflows, habits and package selling are in every tier including the $19.90 one. Extra trainers on your team are free.

So a coach at 25 clients who wants a branded app, nutrition and payments pays $59.90. The comparable Trainerize configuration is a Pro seat tier plus three or four add-ons plus a $169 setup fee, and you still land on a skinned version of the Trainerize app rather than a full white label unless you are on Studio.

Where it is weaker: the interface is functional rather than beautiful, and the brand carries less weight with clients than Trainerize does. It is also still fundamentally a training platform, so the same scope limits apply.

Kajabi, if you sell knowledge more than you sell programming

If your revenue has quietly moved from 1 to 1 coaching to courses, memberships and email marketing, the honest answer is that you may not need fitness software at all.

Kajabi Basic is $179 a month billed monthly, or $143 a month billed annually. Growth is $249 a month monthly, $199 annually. Pro is $499 a month monthly, $399 annually. A branded mobile app is included on the Pro tier, which Kajabi lists at a $199 a month value. If you use a third party payment provider rather than Kajabi Payments, there is an extra platform fee of 2 percent on Basic, 1 percent on Growth and 0.5 percent on Pro.

Where it is weaker: it is expensive, it has no workout builder, and if you actually need to program training for individuals you will hate it. The branded app also sits behind the $399 a month tier.

KLIQ, if the app and the community are the product

KLIQ is not a workout programming tool and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is a platform for coaches whose product is content, community and access rather than sets and reps.

You get your own branded iOS and Android apps published under your name, community, livestream, ecourses, programs, digital downloads, broadcast email, 1 to 1 booking, subscriptions via Stripe, and Instagram DM automation through DM Flow. Web Spaces start from $29 a month, about £22 a month, and your own branded app starts from $149 a month, about £110 a month. The first 14 days are free, the first month is £1, and migration is free.

Be aware of the transaction fee, because it is the part that differs most from the fitness tools above. KLIQ takes a percentage on sales, from 3.4 percent on the entry tier down to 1.7 percent on the top tier. TrueCoach and PT Distinction do not take a cut of your sales at all. If you are selling high volume at low margin, run that number before you switch.

Where it is weaker: if a client asks you to adjust their tempo on week 3 of a hypertrophy block and log RPE against last week's session, use Trainerize, TrueCoach or PT Distinction. That is what they are for.

How they compare

Branded iOS and Android app under your own name. Included with KLIQ from $149 a month and with PT Distinction from $59.90 a month. Included with TrueCoach from the Standard plan. Included with Kajabi on the $399 a month Pro tier. On Trainerize it is a $169 one time setup for a skinned app on Pro, or a full white label on Studio Plus from $275 a month. Everfit gates full white labelling behind Enterprise, which is quote only.

The honest verdict

If you are happy with Trainerize and only mildly annoyed by the bill, do the arithmetic before you move. Switching platforms costs you a fortnight of admin and a small amount of client goodwill. A $30 a month saving does not cover that.

If you want the same job done with a simpler invoice, go to TrueCoach.

If you are early and cannot justify software spend yet, start free on Everfit and revisit at 5 clients.

If you want a branded app without an add-on stack and you program seriously, PT Distinction is the best value on this list and it is not particularly close.

If your business is really a media business now, look at Kajabi or KLIQ rather than any fitness tool.

Do not choose KLIQ if your value to clients is individualised training prescription. If you need an exercise video library, tempo and RPE logging, wearables data and macro tracking, KLIQ will frustrate you and one of the other four will not. Equally, do not choose KLIQ if you sell a small number of high volume low margin products and a percentage transaction fee would hurt more than a flat seat fee. And if you only coach 3 clients, paying for an app you do not need yet is the wrong call. Start on Everfit's free tier and come back when the audience justifies it.

Choose KLIQ when your clients are a community rather than a caseload, when you are selling courses, downloads and subscriptions alongside coaching, and when having your own name on the App Store icon is worth paying for.

How to switch without losing clients

Do it between program cycles, never mid block. Export your exercise library and templates first, because that is the part nobody backs up and the part that takes longest to rebuild.

Tell clients before you move, not after. Frame it as an upgrade and give them a specific date and a 60 second video of the new app. The churn risk in a platform switch is almost entirely about people feeling surprised.

Run both platforms in parallel for two weeks. It costs one extra month of software and saves you the panic of discovering something is missing on day one.

Ask about migration support before you commit. Some platforms, KLIQ included, will do the migration for you at no cost, and that changes the real cost of switching more than any monthly price difference.

FAQ

Is there a free alternative to Trainerize?

Yes. Everfit's Starter plan is free forever for up to 5 clients and includes the workout builder, client app and messaging. Trainerize's own free plan covers 1 client.

Which Trainerize alternative gives me my own branded app for the least money?

PT Distinction at $59.90 a month, which includes custom branded iOS and Android apps for up to 25 clients with no separate branding fee, checked August 2026.

Why is my Trainerize bill higher than the advertised price?

Almost always add-ons. Nutrition, payments, video coaching and the Business add-on are priced separately from the seat tier, and together they can more than double the headline cost.

Should I move to KLIQ from Trainerize?

Only if your business has outgrown workout delivery. KLIQ is built for coaches selling courses, community, subscriptions and digital products through their own branded app. If your core service is writing individual training programs, stay on a training platform.
